Meet Bed1, Table3 & Platform Tweaks

Hope you’re all having a productive Spring! Following up on our last update where we launched the free Flex Table and celebrated getting all core designs into ModMaker v2, I’ve been hard at work expanding the turnifure.com catalog and also doing some thinking about how the platform can best serve you all. Got some really exciting developments and important news to share today!
Introducing Bed1: From Project to Parametric Reality! 🛏️
Remember “Project Bed” I mentioned last time, the one aiming for a single 4×8 board and zero hardware? Well, it’s officially graduated and is now live as Bed1! Dull name I know but for a good cause, allocating 100% of my creativity on design.
I’m thrilled to say we hit those initial goals. Bed1 is a super versatile inserts-based parametric Bed Frame / Puff that includes the slats grid. You don’t need screws for a sturdy night’s sleep (or a comfy seat!).
Thanks to some clever parametric nesting within ModMaker, you can adjust it to a huge range of sizes:
- Go small for a pet bed or puff (starting at 750×750 mm).
- Stretch it out to a standard US Twin (965×1905 mm).
- Generate anything in between to fit your specific mattress or cushion!
The adjustable parameters in ModMaker include:
- Material and tool specifications (board thickness, slots fit, bit diameter).
- The final slot width for your mattress/cushion.
- The final slot length for your mattress/cushion.
It’s live in the catalog now – ready for you to customize and generate plans for via ModMaker!
Meet Table3 – The Curvy Grid Leg Coffee Table Base ☕
Next up, we have a sleek new addition perfect for pairing with a glass or solid top: Table3!
This design provides a modern, sturdy base for a coffee table. The cool part? The first version is already parametric for material thickness, adapting beautifully to sheets from thin 5.5 mm ply all the way up to chunky 19.05 mm (3/4 inch) boards.
- Available Parameters Now: Material and tool specs.
- Coming Soon: I’m already working on adding parameters to adjust the overall width/length of the base, giving you even more control to create differently proportioned coffee tables!

Important Platform Update: Evolving Our “Mods” System
Okay, onto some important platform news. Currently, turnifure.com offers two ways to get plans:
- Mods Packs: Buy a pack of 50 “Mods” to generate plans (costs vary per model, 5-25 Mods).
- Maker’s PASS: An annual subscription for unlimited access and generations of all models.
After observing how this works, I’ve realized the current Mods Pack system doesn’t quite capture the value correctly. The main intellectual property and design work is in accessing the design itself for the first time, while generating slightly modified versions later is more of a feature. The current system prices both actions similarly using Mods.
To better reflect this, we’ll be evolving the system soon (exact date TBC):
- Maker’s PASS: No changes here! Your all-access, unlimited generation pass remains exactly the same. You guys are covered! 👍
- Mods System Change: Instead of buying a generic pack of Mods, you will first Unlock a specific model you want to make.
- Unlocking a model will have a fixed price (still working this out).
- Unlocking will include a set number of Mods specifically for generating variations of that model.
- You’ll then be able to buy much cheaper Mod Packs to generate more variations, but these Mods will only work for the models you have already unlocked.
This change aims to fairly value the initial design access while making it more affordable to generate multiple variations once you’ve committed to a specific design. It brings the value proposition more in line with the effort and IP involved. I’ll share more details, including the unlock pricing, closer to the launch of this new system.
Focus Continues: More Designs!
These new models and platform tweaks are all part of the bigger picture: expanding the turnifure.com catalog with more innovative, useful, hardware-free parametric designs. Bed1 and Table3 are just the beginning of this next wave!
