The past few months have involved significant developments for the turnifure.com platform. We have completed a system-wide upgrade, launched new models such as the Bed1 and Table3, and implemented the “Unlock and Mod” system for plan acquisition. These efforts were undertaken to improve the user experience for creating custom CNC furniture.

The platform is now operating with stability, and the ModMaker tool is functioning smoothly and the successful implementation of these updates has established the necessary foundation for our next phase of development.

Our objective has been to increase the availability of well-designed, accessible furniture. To further this goal, we will be expanding our operational model. It is time to facilitate a broader community effort.

Announcing a New Direction: A Collaborative Platform

We are officially announcing the evolution of turnifure.com into a multi-designer marketplace. The platform will now enable third-party furniture designers to market their plans, which will be integrated with our proprietary ModMaker tool.

This is a strategic step in our mission to connect more makers with more designers, creating a larger and more diverse ecosystem for CNC furniture.

What This Means for Makers

For our users—the makers—this platform update will result in several key enhancements:

   
• Expanded Design Catalog: By onboarding new designers, we anticipate a significant increase in the variety and quantity of available furniture plans, offering a broader selection of styles and functionalities.

   

• Consistent Customization Tooling: All designs, including those from new contributors, will utilize the existing ModMaker engine. This ensures a consistent process for adjusting material specifications and dimensions to generate custom DXF and SVG files.

   

• A Centralized Resource for CNC Plans: We aim for turnifure.com to become a more comprehensive resource for high-quality, parametric CNC furniture plans, making it the primary destination for your new projects.

We are now extending an invitation to furniture designers interested in leveraging our platform to distribute their work.

   
• Parametric Integration for Your Designs: We provide the framework to integrate your designs with our ModMaker engine. This enables powerful parametric customization for your customers without requiring you to develop the backend infrastructure.

   

• Managed Technical Backend: Our platform handles sales, file generation, and delivery. We have already addressed the complexities of DXF compatibility across various CAD/CAM software, reducing the technical burden on our design partners.

   

• Access an Established User Base: The platform provides direct access to a growing community of CNC makers, hobbyists, and professional fabricators actively seeking new projects.

The recent platform migration and the implementation of the “Unlock & Mod” system were prerequisites to ensuring a robust and equitable platform ready for this expansion.
