Maker’s PASS 1st month | + Features

Hey everyone! Javier here with a behind-the-scenes look at our latest developments at turnifure.com. It’s been an eventful few weeks since the launch of Maker’s PASS, and we’ve been focused on both refining the platform and responding to user feedback.

One of the biggest shifts was revamping ModMaker, the adjusted DXF plans generator to which we are adding SVG output. This decision was driven by input from makers who experienced compatibility issues with the DXF files and a few CAD/CAM software. SVG offers broader compatibility which will be a substantial improvement for many makers. The current focus is on adapting my 4 ModMaker-ready models and then add the rest. This is a significant undertaking but it’s crucial for ensuring a user-friendly experience.

Aside from that DXF compatibility challenge, ModMaker’s getting me tons of positive feedback. One subscriber told me it’d be great to have that for his regular drawings. Turns out the idea is pretty popular so it’s now on the horizon.

Beyond the technical improvements, we’ve also implemented a new policy to benefit past customers. Anyone who previously purchased individual plans can get a discount on Maker’s PASS. This felt like the right thing to do to acknowledge your early support.

To recap some Maker’s Pass features, it gives you access to the full turnifure.com catalog of 100% CNC-made, hardware-free, niche products, a commercial license, and ongoing updates. The core of the offering, though, is ModMaker, our proprietary tool that enables you to adjust material thickness, dimensions, and other parameters before downloading the fully adjusted plan in DXF format (and soon in SVG)🛠️.

My primary goal for the next few weeks is to continue the ModMaker SVG implementation, and gather further feedback from current Maker’s PASS subscribers. I’m always open to suggestions and want to ensure the platform is as valuable as possible for the maker community.

Thanks for following along!

📅 Update 2025-03-12 – ModMaker 2 – Big progress! 🚀.

I’ve been busting my ass coding ModMaker v2 to generate both DXFs and SVGs in parallel for a CPU efficient process. Damn its hard but it’s coming out great. Check out this screenshot of a (partial) Rockpit plan generated by ModMaker v2 (left is SVG and right is DXF in LibreCAD). I know the image is dull as fuck but believe me, given the grind I’m putting into it, I see an eye-watering work of art!✨.

Notice they’re inverted, that’s because in SVGs (0,0) is at the top and in DXF at the bottom. By now almost all algorithms seem to be working, and well adapted. The rest is adding the remaining entities so I expect Rockpit will be SVG ready by saturday.

📅 Update 2025-03-17 – ModMaker v2 with SVG generation’s done ☑️..

The new ModMaker feature is now done and live. It was a giant undertaking but if I aim to be the best source for CNC furniture plans, format preferences can’t be an issue. The new version is just like the original one but after clicking the Generate button, both plans get generated by our external service and when they’re ready the download link get listed below. I’ll make a new demo soon.

Hello Javier!! the modmaker demo video at the home page looks like a practical tool to have for our usual drawings, can you explain what that feature would be like and the expected time-frame for implementation?

Hello Matías! Unfortunately no, the priority right now is adding SVG compatibility and testing it on my own designs and I suspect that’ll take several weeks. The only time frame to start working on customer’s plans I can confidently expect is 3-4 months. Thank you for your interest!

Say you love it here ⬇️
