Sorry for another “non-turnifure-related” post. I’m not designing yet and still going through some personal growth. Somehow this space lets me vent out a little.

If I could choose one trait to get Matrix-style hardcoded into my brain that would be discipline, or motivation (if I knew it’d get me disciplined 😓).

Around November 2023 I started thinking about that, and reached the conclusion that a through all of my life I’ve always lacked discipline (and still do). with the exceptions a few projects in my previous job, this site when I started it, a few times I managed to do healthy stuff (meditation, nutrition, working out) and that’s about it.

I’m still hoping to identify what those have in common to do more of it and fix my life for good, but it’s proving not an easy feat.
What I did find, is a factor that helped me get a little more disciplined, and thats using indicators. I’m not completely sure why, maybe my weak memory makes it hard to keep track of the effort I’m doing, or I need to have evidence of my progress in-my-face to feel proud, or guilty, and push me towards change, or else… but I’ve found indicators do help.
After a few nights debating with the pillow on how to apply that knowledge productively I came up with the idea to set indicators for everything I want to change, even day-to-day stuff. I made a Google sheet with some habits I wanted to acquire, and others I wanted to suppress, assigned scores to each of them, and coded it with some automations to make it on-the-go-friendly and consolidate all scores into a single “behavior” indicator.

A few months later I got tired with logging on Google sheets which was network-dependent and a little sluggish, and decided to make an app for it, enabling a few other improvements.
So today, 10 months later… is my life fixed? Hell no. But I think it’s doing some difference because I’m still using it, acquired a few healthy habits and my indicator is trending upwards.

That’s what I’ve been up to this year so far (besides dealing with all the stuff I talk about my previous post Happy 2024 + A little venting.

By now the app’s almost done and I have an alpha version I’m using.
It’s called fixxme.app ⬅️ that’s the documentation.

Like the idea?

I still need a few more testers so if you have and Android and would like to help me by trying it let me know below!

☝ PD – I’ll return to turnifure.com. Hoping to fix my discipline issue first.
