Cockpit rdy 4 prototype | Update 8
The first version worthy of prototyping is done! 🎉
I checked and double checked all parts, curves, lines, layers, dimensions and I can confidently say the prototype will have very few fuck-ups 😅.
This version also includes some improvements you suggested after my last update.
Here they are:
☑️ Changed the main console depth regulation to 5 positions instead of 4, for more precision when adjusting the wheel depth.
☑️ Reshaped the sides of the pedals mount to add space when it’s at the lowest position, now the pedals go all the way before your shoes touch the sides.
☑️ Mirrored the shifter/mouse mount location to the other side so it serves as another storage/mounting option for whatever you feel like putting there.
☑️ Redesigned the handles to match the diameter of a standard bike handle grip if you want to add those.
☑️ Added my beautiful logo carved next to the wheel.
☑️ Lastly in some key spots I added a 🔩 system to optionally fix the structure with bolts and t-nuts and have the whole thing be even more sturdy, the t-nuts dig into the material when the bolt is fastened and makes the joint rock-solid, not that it needed it at all but some of you may be more aggressive drivers than I’ve ever seen.. this will take care of everyone 👍.

📅 Update 2021-12-07 – Hey everyone! my sim racing cockpit project’s almost done (waiting for the prototype) and this time I decided to make your lives easier by getting makers and quotations myself and selling the cut parts.
For that I need to know your locations to contact local makers and discuss materials & prices.

📅 Update 2022-01-28 – If you wished me luck, it didn’t work 😅. Believe it or not I’m still waiting to get my prototype. Early December I contacted several local makers and all of them were neck deep with large construction orders and not taking any new pnes so I had to wait. 2022 came, the first two weeks of January everything is closed here for summer holidays and two months later here I am, with a finished design and no prototype. Yesterday I accepted the first quotation I could get and it looks like it could be ready next week.
